We had decided to stay a few days in this quiet and cute tourist town, to visit some of the local water parks and other attractions. Our Agent in Brazil, Simone had recommended a new tourist water park, which we visited after a longish drive out of town. Sheryle and I swam but the others did not, as the water was not clear enough for us to see the fish well. After a quick zip-line, we left for the old river park that the crew had previously visited.
This site was fantastic. There is no other way to describe it. It was quieter and a little old fashioned with grass roofed buildings, but delightful. We walked around their small local zoo while waiting for the river guide and saw a tapir up close, plus some monkeys and wonderul coloured birds including a mackaw. We also saw a long and "wild" snake that had Sheryle jumping!
Then we all were kitted up in wetsuits and booties, plus masks and snorkles for those who did not have one, and given guidance on how we must slowly slide into the river so as not to disturb the fish or the silt on the bottom of the shallow river, at about 1.5m or so. We then walked about half a kilometre to this magic river in the forest, along with a German family of four, and slipped into the ultra clear water.
I just lay on the surface with my GoPro camera and filmed the fish in the incredibly clear water. The fish came right up to my face, so that all the colours were clear and bright. The footage I have taken both stills and video are quite extraordinary and are all included in my daily VLOG or video file that is on YouTube.
